Tulum, Q.R. — Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón says City Council is considering bypass plans for an airport road due to the increase in traffic. He says officials are looking into the possibility of creating a bypass system for airport traffic. Tulum municipal authorities are discussing the idea with the state government that could see an alternate route so Tulum Airport traffic does not go through the town.
The proposed bypass would be focused on somehow linking motorists through a road to the International Airport with the Maya Train and the Jaguar Park, three projects, he says, that are attracting a lot of visitors.
“We are in talks with Governor Mara Lezama to make a bypass around the Tulum International Airport, the Jaguar Park, the Maya Train since these projects are detonating a lot of traffic in the municipality and we need a bypass so that there is less traffic,” he said.
Diego Castañón did not detail any part of the analysis or subsequent proposal regarding a possible alternate road system.
