New Canadian Airline Routes to Tulum Announced

Calgary’s WestJet Introduces Flights Connecting Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario to Tulum

Calgary-based airline WestJet has announced new direct flights connecting Canadian cities in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario with Tulum, Mexico. These flights will commence operations in November, linking Canada to Tulum’s new Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport.

Starting November 9, WestJet will offer a weekly flight from Calgary to Tulum and three weekly flights from Toronto to Tulum, running until April 27, 2025.

With these additions, WestJet becomes the second Canadian airline to fly to Tulum, following Air Canada’s launch of three flights to the city in May.

Jorge Molina Pérez, Director of Tulum’s Tourism and Economy Department, highlighted that these new routes could enhance Tulum’s reputation as a prime beach destination with rich Maya cultural heritage. He emphasized the importance of promoting this image to travelers from Canada, the United States, and Europe.

“Canada and Toronto host travelers with significant purchasing power who often seek seasonal escapes from cold weather,” Molina said.

“We are excited to welcome this new airline flying 737s to Tulum. WestJet is expanding its market, and it’s essential for us to understand the Canadian visitors arriving thanks to this development,” he added.

To complement the new Canada-Tulum flights, WestJet Vacations is offering packages including flights and accommodations at 35 major hotels near the airport.

Additionally, WestJet has announced new flights to various sunny destinations from Canadian airports, including two other locations in Mexico.

Starting November 9, the airline will offer a weekly direct flight from Winnipeg to Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, running until April 26, 2025.

From December 13 to April 18, 2025, WestJet will also provide a weekly flight from Kelowna, British Columbia, to Mazatlán on the Pacific coast.
