A total of 20 projects are scheduled for completion before the end of September as directed by Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo. Bad weather during the past two months has delayed some of these projects, he said adding that only two of the initial 22 projects are completely finished.
Others, he reported, are in progress while others will begin their construction as part of the contracts already tendered.
He explained that in the last two months, the weather conditions have slowed down the development of the projects among which include the rehabilitation of La Selva Avenue, the remodeling of Cobá Avenue and the first stage of the new Command, Control, Communication and Computing Center of Tulum.
“During the current administration, in the period from January to September 2024, we have contracted 22 projects of which are in varying stages. Two are at 100 percent complete, two at 90 percent and we have four contracts to start for which we have already paid an advance.
“But all the projects that are contracted have to be completed before the end of the current administration,” he said.
He pointed out that the total amount for Fiscal Year 2024 in terms of public works is 220 million pesos, which correspond to 34 projects. Regarding the resources for these projects, he detailed that they are around 112 million pesos in total. The remaining 108 million pesos will be used to finance other projects from October to December of this year.
“For the entire Fiscal Year, the City Council is expected to spend around 220 million pesos. Currently we have 112 million pesos planned which gives a difference of 108 for the remaining months of 2024,” said the official.
