Tulum International Airport Nears 700,000 Passenger Milestone

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Tulum International Airport is rapidly becoming a key player in the region’s growth, as it approaches its 700,000th passenger milestone just eight months after opening. This achievement, highlighted by Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama, is a testament to the airport’s vital role in enhancing connectivity to Tulum, a hotspot for real estate investment.

Since its inauguration, the Jungle Airport has exceeded expectations by handling approximately 670,000 domestic and international travelers. With over 5,000 flights managed in this short span, the airport’s success is driving increased interest in Tulum’s booming real estate market.

From December 2023 to July 2024, Tulum Airport efficiently managed nearly 670,000 passengers across 5,200 flights. The airport’s growth trajectory is drawing attention from investors eyeing Tulum’s real estate opportunities.

Significant spikes in passenger numbers were recorded in March and July 2024, aligning with peak travel seasons. March saw international arrivals surpassing 5,000, while April witnessed a dramatic rise to 53,000 passengers. By July, the figure surged to over 88,000, underscoring the airport’s impact on Tulum’s allure.

Governor Lezama remarked on the exponential growth, stating, “In just four months, the number of national and international passengers has grown sixteenfold. The future looks incredibly bright, as we expect to reach 1.4 million passengers by year’s end.” This surge in tourism is expected to further stimulate the local real estate market, making Tulum an increasingly attractive destination for investors.

Initially, General Javier Diego Campillo, Administrator of Tulum International Airport, projected around 700,000 passengers for the airport’s first year. However, with air travel continuing to rise, the airport now anticipates accommodating between 1.3 to 1.4 million passengers by year’s end—significantly boosting Tulum’s real estate potential.

As Tulum International Airport continues to thrive, the region’s real estate market is poised for unprecedented growth, attracting investors from around the globe.
